The mission of Hostelling International is “to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling.” This mission for greater understanding has seldom been more vital to the future of the United States of America and the world we live in then it is today. By facilitating and inspiring exploration of the world, its peoples and its cultures, we build the foundation for a more peaceful future.

In its first two years the 500 bed J. Ira & Nicki Harris Family Hostel hosted over 110,000 overnight stays for only $25 per night. With your support Hostelling International can continue to bring travelers from around the world and around the country to Chicago and continue its educational community outreach programs.

Hostelling International-Chicago is an Illinois nonprofit corporation and an IRS 501(C)(3) qualified organization. Your donations help to bring the world to Chicago by providing a clean, safe and inexpensive place for travelers of all ages. Our educational programs enhance Chicago’s intercultural understanding and would not be possible without philanthropic support.
