Cultural Kitchen Youth Outreach Program

Celebrates the Cultural Spice of Life! Throughout history and around the globe, people have gathered around a meal to meet, to plan, to settle disputes, to make friendships, and build community. In that spirit of understanding, HI Chicago established the Cultural Kitchen Youth Outreach program.

Program Information

Exchange Neighborhoods

An educational youth outreach program that teaches high school students from Chicago’s often segregated and culturally isolated neighborhoods to build pride around their own culture, while opening their minds to learn about a new neighborhood and culture of their peers.

Program Information

Community Expressions

What is it like to live in your neighborhood? The Community Expressions program asks youth this question and gives them the opportunity to respond through original creative expression. Throughout the process, participants learn to appreciate their own and their community’s cultural heritage and become ready to share experiences with people beyond these borders.
