The United Nations International Day of Peace falls on September 21, and organizations and individuals around the world celebrate this day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace. For the third consecutive year, Hostelling International USA’s (HI USA) collection of hostels nationwide is hosting Sleep For Peace to honor of this special day, including HI Chicago. Additionally, HI hostels on every continent (except the Antarctica) are hosting their own unique festivities – making it truly a global event.
In honor of this event, HI Chicago is organizing a Summit of Community Voices with events promoting peace throughout the week of September 21.

HUMAN is a collection of stories about and images of our world, offering an immersion to the core of what it means to be human. Through these stories full of love and happiness, as well as hatred and violence, HUMAN brings us face to face with the Other, making us reflect on our lives. From stories of everyday experiences to accounts of the most unbelievable lives, these poignant encounters share a rare sincerity and underline who we are – our darker side, but also what is most noble in us, and what is universal.
